Kiki Hardt here. I’m going to take you on a long design trip. This is a Before, and then, and then, then an After…. this room circa 2017

Yes a mess. This was the light fixture I was left with. For a main bedroom in an all glass, modern Miami high-rise. There are no words for how un-designed this place was.

This poor guy was the sad light fixture. It had 1 light out and you could barely see at night. The first step I took was whiting out the space. With a blank pallet, it was easier to determine a direction. The mirrored bedside tables added some dimension. Modern lamps helped update it as well. But not too keen on the gray, burlap bedframe after putting it in.

Over some time I added the gorgeous black leather Crocodile wallpaper from the local Wallpaper Company. Keeping the same nightstand arrangement- making those modern lamps pop. I recovered the bedframe in a channel, velvet tufted bed in sexy black. Adding some Native American representation ink print by Jenna Snyder Phillips. A nod to the history of the Tequesta tribe that once inhabited the area.

I have to admit that I drew a lot of my inspiration for this space from my time in Black Rock City. Otherwise know as Burning Man- the once a year gathering in the Nevada desert. The art, the music, the natural beauty as well as the over all human ingenuity really is something to behold in this very special place.
Then in 2020, major life changes (pandemic ugh!) including a new puppy made more changes to this bedroom necessary. Finally got the non-working light fixture traded to this beauty.

The hand knotted rug is from this amazing company in Scotland called Wendy Morrison. The fur throw is bespoke by yours truly (Kiki Hardt). The floral and wood vase piece is also created by me. And guess what- those are Target Velvet pillow covers!

Found a design worthy puppy crate in lucite for the new addition. A beautiful feather collar piece from Sharron Lewis Design in Miami to compliment the theme.

Blacking out the TV wall makes it recede and not look so obvious. And then the addition of the white leather credenza adds dynamic contrast to the wall.

Now it’s a luxurious room inside and out. This is what you could wake up to every morning! For more info on me, Kiki Hardt or this condo in particular: drop me a line at kikihardtdesign@kikihardt
