Hardt Deco

Before & After Guest Bedroom

Once upon a time I re-did this Miami Condo Guest Room. First time seeing this space, there were some issues. Overall, it just felt dated. And I am not the biggest fan of the purple color palette, if we are being honest. They had really doubled down with that in a shiny lavender tinted venetian plaster. That took some commitment. And it was looking a little on the sloppy side.

So at first, I just wanted to white it out and start over. I thought about going this direction for a minute. Very stale and too stark. Too early 2000’s Miami style. But it was a good jumping off point. Because I could see what tones could work in the room. And I looked to the local Miami color for inspiration. And this local beauty, nature’s true show off fit the bill!

Finally settled on this look. I recovered the old burlap bed frame with velvet tufted headboard and footboard. My first attempt at the fluted tufted style- very Art Deco. I chose a metallic cork wallpaper from The Wallpaper Company. A wonderful local South Florida business that I went on to work with many times-always professional! I created matching peacock velvet blackout drapes and even found the perfect matching velvet, office chair at Home Goods.

Had a little help from this handsome fella. The Bespoke artwork was courtesy of me. Kiki Hardt pillows (learn more about pillows here). Picked up a few little accessories from CB2. And went with the faux monstera plant, since this room was shut up for long periods of time during the summer while I was in NYC,

And don’t forget the most important part of visiting Miami for my guests. That amazing view for sunrise and sunset that you get! All and all, it was a successful room both inside and out.
